A farce to support the old order

Last AND isssue we have pointed out how the money people pay in taxes is going to implement the high bureaucracy in the institutions of the old State. To give an appearance that are the people who decide on the Republic’s course, the local ruling classes and the imperialism impose a political system based on a electoral farce with the aim to renew, every two years, tha bureaucratic caste in our country.

Voting polls have been utilized to give people the idea they decide the country’s future and, at the same time, preach the idea they are to be blamed for the election of corrupt politicians. Trying to deceive people by the apparent aspect of the phenomenon and hiding its essence, the ruling classes and their dominating instruments – between them the media monopoly – try to throw the resposibility for the future of the country in the backs of the Brazilian ‘voters’.

Big dog

In Brasil, with the electoral farce sponsored by the bureaucratic capitalism, the voter is less important. And it is so because of our condition of a semicolonial and semifeudal country, under imperialism, mainly Yankee, whose bureaucratic capitalism drains the resources and the national production to the imperialist hands.

As a matter of fact, the election is a game for “big dogs”. The election definition is done by the media monopoly, banks, contractors, agrobusiness and the USA Embassy in defence of the transnational companys that operate in the country.

The resources of the so-called party fund, people’s money that will irrigate the party bosses’ pockets, are just a ‘little cup of coffee’ before the large quantity of resources handled by the election campaigns travestied of open or hidden donations, denominated “cashier 2”.

However, all thes resources are not applied randomly. The supporters promote – so that that they can know exactly whom to invest, through tha so-called class entities of bankers and entrepreneurs – the questioning survey which is also done through the monopoly media.

The election polls accomplished by the media monopoly, parties and sponsors compose as well a defining picture, playing an important role; and these are the keys for deceiving part of the masses since they serve to fit the candidate’s speech to the elector’s illusions who dreams to have the answer to his/her real interests. The candidates are fully aware that they will never fulfill their promises.

Among those polls the qualitative ones are the most daring and they move more deeply into the subjective aspects of the relation with the electors. It is a major issue to note that in those questioning surveys it is more relevant to frame the candidate in the monopolies’ interests than become informed of his/her political programmes. The candidates, on the other hand, willing to be supported and receive money from them, fully expose their submission to the national market subjugation, that is, to imperialism.

Insisting on the lies

In accordance with the old saying that “ The one who pays the band chooses the music”, the real commitment of the candidates will be with those who have “bet” on their candidacies.

In the electoral platforms they will keep “ insisting on their lies” as Jessiê Quirino, a famous humorist from Paraíba, affirms. The old slogans are repeated from election to election that the elected will fight for the defence of health, education, safety and transport to the people and “ talk talk talk”, everything in vain.

The repetition of this chattering is well known by our people. And they have been showing rejection to all that muddle in the last election: with blank and spoiled votes or abstaining to vote not to endorse such a farce, result of a spurious process.

Much more than in elections, the countryside and city workers defend their mobilization, politization and organization so that, effectively, they will be able to change the country. A change that can only happen through a Democratic Agrarian Anti-imperialist Revolution led by an authentic revolutionary party.

As Belchior, a Brazilian artist, used to sing: “ You cannot feel and see/ But I am bound to say, my friend/ A new change will soon happen/ And the past is a garment that does not fit us anymore”.
