AND Support Committee, Belo Horizonte, MG, at 900 Tamoios street, room 7, centre of the capital, had the door broken on Sunday, on September 15th. A traderman has denounced it to the police who visited the place and checked the veracity of the information.
On Sundays the local is shut down and the policeman said he would be at the disposal of the responsible for the newspaper building at the 3rd Police Station, at 1353 Guajajaras street, room 21, district of Lourdes, and that the technical police work would be carried out on September 16th, on Monday.
The Support Committee received the policeman expert on the 16th and he informed that the break-in had probably been done by “drug addicted persons”. In the same week members of the committee went to the police station and the policeman provided a document under the number 2019-045045963-001.
It is not the first time a fact like this happens at the AND Support Committee. The first time they broke into the room and stole a computer leaving other equipment and appliances untouched. Another time the same place had a fire attack. Initially it was believed to be caused by a short-circuit problem, however there are images that show clearly a criminal action.
This time, a new episode of burglary and the criminal took an amount of money, R$300,00, kept in a small safe, and did not take more valuable objects like two smartphones and a Sony video projector.
These cases make us believe that the three facts are linked and they represent an attempt of intimidation as AND Support Committee carries out propaganda and debates to reinforce the democratic people’s press in the region. It has achieved a good number of supporters due to the correct analysis of the political situation in the country and in the world as well as its transparency to show the contradiction between the power groups of the old bourgeois, landownership State, servant of the imperialism, mostly Yankee. In recent months the newspaper reported the internal dispute in the government between Bolsonaro’s far right-wing and the hegemonic right-wing of the High Command of the Armed Forces.
“In the face of the environment launched by government to sweep away the people’s rights so painfully achieved, attacking the most fundamental workers’ rights to organize themselves and fight for their defense, an environment in which the fascist forces trigger menaces the democratic liberties, preaching the new edition of the pro-Yankee imperialism military regime, against the people and against the motherland, in this environment, we denounce and repel those criminal actions against the building of AND Support Committee. Criminal actions that attack the right and freedom of demonstration and organization. We want to make clear our position that the intimidation attack will not stop us to follow our activities commited to the struggle for a true New Democracy in our country”. So affirms the organizer responsible for the Support Committee in Belo Horizonte.
We demand the verification and criminal liability of the authors of these actions! We urge all democratic men and women, class and combative fighters to expose and repel these criminal actions and strengthen the support to the people’s press!
