Government abandons people and puts the masses against the masses

Crisis at the frontier is purposeful in order to justify more Yankee intervention in the region

On May 17th , inhabitants of Pacaraima attacked Venezuelans immigrants, expelled many of them from Brasil and burst into flames their belongings and tents at the concentration points in the small frontier town, the main entrance door for the Venezuelan refugees in our country.

The aggression would have been motivated by an assault by Venezuelans to a small grocery store who, right after, would have spanked the owner. The delay with the help by the local health system added some fuel to the fire and the revolt turned against the immigrants.

Conflicts of this kind were supposed to happen at any time as long as for months one knows that the migratory question risk would be used as a pretext for an imperialist aggression to Venezuela. A country that has been plunged into a deep breakdown crisis of its bureaucratic capitalism expressed in clashes of the big bourgeoisie fractions and in the interimperialist contradiction as well, with the disputes among USA, Russia and China, mostly.

This episode which has opposed the Brazilian masses to the Venezuelan masses has been one more step towards the  Pentagon’s plans for provocating frontier riots and justifying an invasion by the Latin-American military forces under the banner of “humanitarian crisis resolution”, according to the Yankee plans, as it was published in AND 214.

Furthermore, the frequent and unusual visits of high echelon persons from the Yankee government to Brasil and Colombia, have us believe that the arrangements for a military offensive, with the aim to overthrow Maduro and assault the Venezuelan nation, have been concluded.

Amongst all this serious situation, Russia acts to undermine still more the Yankee interests in Venezuela. On August 21st  it was disclosed the interest of the Russian enterprise, Rosoboroneksport (export of military products), to install Kalashnikov assault rifle factories ( the powerful AK) in Venezuela, starting to produce them in 2010.

Attack against Maduro

After a couple of weeks of Maduro’s attack in Caracas, the Venezuela’s General Attorney, Tarek Willian Saab, has made frequent statements to the press announcing prisons of suspected persons involved in the case and accusing some others who have found refuge in different countries.

Two generals have been put in jail, among them Héctor Hernández da Costa, from the National Guard, the second as a head of the General Staff of the Integral Defence Region of Caracas. Some sources affirm that there are 24 investigated  or suspects. Others affirm they are 43.

Saab has shown a video on the testimony of Juan Requesens, the deputy who was arrested right after Maduro’s attack, On the video, he confesses that his participation has been only to facilitate the passage of the person in charge of the attack through the frontier with Colombia, at the request of Julio Borges, ex-chairman of the National Assembly ( former legislative house), who is a refugee in Colombia. The person in charge is Juan Monasterios, ex-military of the National Guard, who has also been in jail and has admitted to have helped to introduce the explosive drones.

Naturally, the USA, “the great guardian for democracy”, has been demanding an independent commission for investigating the case and accuses the Venezuelan government for illegalities in the arrest of the suspected people, the collection of evidences and political persecution of Maduro’s adversaries. In fact, witnesses have related that the persons who have been investigated have been kidnapped and maintained in isolation.

Economic large package

On July 30th , Maduro has submitted a package of economic measures intending, according to him, “ to remove the tumour of capitalism and create a deep healing with a new economy”. Among the measures – already at work – from August 20th, the reconversion of bolivar that has lost five zeros, its indexation to petro ( virtual currency created by the Venezuela government itself). The petro, on its turn, would be asset-backed on the oil reserves of the country.

Additionally, there are some other measures as the salary increase in 300%, the promise for legislation review on foreign exchange crimes, raise of the international reserves and tax exemption for the import of some items. However, nothing to demonstrate that really the tumour of capitalism will be removed, except that the measures will give a certain momentaneous relief to his government – something unlikely faced with the crisis magnitude that abates the Venezuelan people.

Nicaragua: The massacre against the people advances

The protests requiring Daniel Ortega’s resignation of the semicolonial government in Nicaragua proceeds. Nicaraguan people crowd the streets tirelessly since April 18th, facing the repression forces of the old State and Sandinista paramilitary groups that kidnap, spank and murder the demonstrators.

One estimates that more than 400 people were killed during the protests, among them demonstrators contrary and favourable to Ortega. Among the dead persons is the Brazilian medicine student, Raynéia Gabrielle Lima. In the war of understanding the facts, the university rector where she studied accuses a pro-Ortega paramilitary for the murder, but the regime has arrested a private security guard as being the culprit.

On August 26th protests were held against Ortega in tens of towns and 28 persons were arrested by the repression forces, most of them student leaders. Emilia Mello, a documentary maker with Brazilian and American nationalities, is among the individuals in detention and although nearly everybody has been released, Emilia goes on in jail and will probably be deported.

The crisis in Nicaragua has been provoking similar effects to the ones in Venezuela. One of them is the increase of the migratory flow of Nicaraguan citizens who have demanded refuge in Costa Rica. The immigration authorities have already mentioned an average of 200 requests for refuge a day and 8000 persons have tried to be housed in Costa Ria since the beginning of the protests.

Nicaragua, Venezuela and Cuba are inserted in the interimperialist contradiction of semicolonies under the influence zone of Russia and China without, however, breaking the subjugation links with the Yankees. Among themselves, they do business of primary goods and food like meat, while they depend on the Russian and Chinese imperialists for purchasing manufactured goods and investing in infrastructure.

The Yankees, aware of everything that could improve the stance of their monopolies in Latin America, have soon dealt with the implementation of plans for replacing Ortega by anybody more docile to their diktat, as they have done rentlessly in other countries of the region.

In that area, besides the repression forces and Sandinista paramilitary groups, the Nicaraguan masses also face paramilitary extreme right-wing groups, nostalgic individuals of Somoza, the tyrant who was overtrown by the masses ( under the Sandinista leadership and support of the Russian Social-imperialism) in 1979.

In such a picture, there is nothing one can do but wait for the Nicaraguan masses to resume their heroic struggle tradition against tyranny and forge a leadership able to carry out the country’s liberation.
